YA Studies Around the World
2-6 November 2020

The YA Studies Association’s first biennial conference explored recent critical developments in YA Studies from around the world. This free online conference brough together diverse, international voices across a range of disciplines, offering a variety of synchronous and asynchronous opportunities for presenting and engaging throughout the first week of November 2020.

Below you’ll find the schedule of live events.

Panel Discussions are standing in for the traditional Q&A session of a conference. This format allows participants a more robust chance to engage one another’s work and to take questions from the audience. Registered attendees have access to a Google Drive folder from 26 October to read and/or listen to the papers in this category.

Roundtables feature individuals working on or with YA from a range of disciplinary backgrounds. These, like the above sessions, will be recorded and embedded into the Google Drive system. All conference materials will be available until 30 November, at which point they will be removed for data protection purposes. We’ve also provided referencing guidelines should those be of use.

Socials are informal events to attempt to capture some of that in-person conference atmosphere many of us miss.

Finally, we are also co-hosting the launch of Aidan Chamber’s new book, The Age Between: Personal Reflections on Youth Fiction. This event will be on 4 November starting at 18:30GMT. It’s being held in conjunction with the National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature and Fincham Press.
