CFP: YA Studies Around the World, The Series

Seminar Series

September — November 2023

YA Studies is a dynamic field with a growing presence. Building on the success of our YASA conferences, which have explored recent critical developments in YA Studies from around the world, this seminar series aims to once again bring together diverse, international voices across a range of disciplines.

The seminar series, like the conference, will be participant-led, meaning the focus of the sessions will be decided by the interests of those who are selected to contribute.

This series offers an opportunity to explore emerging ideas and to test out work-in-progress with an audience of fellow YASA members. We are asking you to demonstrate what you think is significant in the field of YA Studies by pitching a paper based on your research in development.

This year’s series will be in the format of a three-month programme only open to YASA members. Each session will comprise two papers and a dedicated Q&A session for each paper.

We welcome proposals from YASA members who are in the early stages of their career, who are of any race, ethnicity, religion, class, ability, gender, sex, and sexual orientation, and particularly those working beyond the Anglo-American tradition.

To be considered, please send your proposal (in the form of a 250-word abstract) and a short biography to yastudiesassociation@gmail.com by 4 August 2023. The outcome of your proposal will be communicated no later than 16 August 2023. As places are limited, some proposals may be placed on a reserve list for future consideration.
